Introduction to the Customized Integrated Spelling and
Phonetical Library (CISPL).
The CISPL has been in use in Colorado School Districts
since 1988 where they have been found to be very successful
in helping children learn to spell and read. Furthermore
the operation of these programs are so easy that first
graders easily master them after only a few minutes.
And now that they are available to the public, they
have also been made to work with many different sound
devices. With the sound devices you can record your own
voice to the words or purchase voice files.
However, the CISPL contains many features which make
it much more than just another published spelling program
restricted to one preselected word list. The CISPL can
incorporate any words, especially your child's or students'
spelling words, when you order the CUSTOMIZER program.
All of the seven programs available in the Customized
Integrated Spelling and Phonetical Library (CISPL); ANTS,
CUSTOMIZER, CUSTOM SPELL, SAVE THE GATOR, SCRAMBLE,
SEAWORD, and WORDFIND, provide instructional variety that
help your child master the basic phonetical rules of
reading and spelling, do extremely well on their weekly
spelling tests, and also entertain them. Print OVER.DOC
for overview of all seven programs.
All the programs have networkable versions. The
networkable versions can manage up to 45 teachers and each
teacher may have as many as 60 lists. These lists can be
utilized in all of the spelling programs. A major network
advantage of these programs is that you can quickly
preselect the program set-up options at ONE workstation for
all the workstations.

Introduction to SeaWord
SeaWord is also an animated instructional game where
one or two players dive for sunken treasure in marine-
inhabited waters by guessing letters to spell a customized
list word. When two players play, the object is to see who
can get the most treasure chests. When one player plays,
he must spell the word before running out of oxygen and
have to surface. The first time a student guesses a
letter, the scuba diver jumps off into the water. Every
time a student successfully guesses another letter, the
diver goes deeper and one of ten marine creatures swim
across the screen with accompanying music. When the word
is finally spelled, the winning diver finishes diving to
the bottom of the ocean, retrieves the treasure chest,
surfaces, and stashes his treasure chest aboard the boat.

Run Commands for SeaWord
Type SEAWORD to run program the program SeaWord.
___________________________________________________________
To Start SeaWord
1. If you have a sound device, you will be asked if you
want to have the word spoken first. Of course it
is more of a challenge if you don't have the word
spoken.
2. Select either one or two players.
3. Enter the number of words you want to use in the
program.
4. (One player option) Select the number of incorrect
guesses a player gets before his diver runs out of
oxygen.
___________________________________________________________
To Play SeaWord
If there is one player, only one diver will appear. If
there are two players, the player with the blinking diver
on his side begins play first. The number of dashes under
the boat indicates the number of letters in the word. Each
time a player selects an incorrect letter, that letter will
disappear from the ocean. If there is only one player, an
incorrect guess results in the loss of oxygen from the two
air tanks. If there are two players, an incorrect guess
results in loss of turn. When a player chooses the correct
letter, the diver jumps into the ocean.
Under the water unselected letters border both sides of
the screen. Each time a player chooses a correct letter,
his diver dives deeper and a sea creature(s) will cross the
screen. When a player completes a word, the winning diver
retrieves the treasure chest. The object of the game is to
see which diver can retrieve the most treasure chests. If
a single player runs out of guesses or oxygen, his diver
will surface without the treasure chest.
1. Press any letter you feel could be in the word.
2. Press the F10 key to enter the total word. Then
type in the total word and press the Enter key.
The word must be spelled correctly with the correct
capitalization to be counted correctly.

SeaWord or press the N key or the F2 key to go back
and choose another list.

3. When the screen clears and the word appears in bold
letters, say the word immediately.
4. The computer will repeat the word.

Sound Options.
Word files are located in file CSVOC.ZIP.
To select or change Sound Adapter press CTRL + S and
then follow the directions on the screen.
For Sound Blaster and compatibles make sure the I/O
address, the Interrupt, and the DMA channel are correct.
Some compatibles use a different interrupt and a different
DMA channel when they are emulating Sound Blaster than they
use during normal operation. Check your sound board manual
for compatibility directions. Also some compatibles
require that you set the recording level. If you can not
hear your recording, check your manual on how to raise the
recording level.
For DigiSpeech you must first load the driver using
LWDIGI.EXE. I suggest combining the LWDIGI.EXE with
SEAWORD.EXE in a batch file.
SeaWord and all other programs will work on networks
that have both IBM Speech Adapters and DigiSpeech speech
adapters. When using the sound selection option, select
either the IBM Speech Adapter or the DigiSpeech adapter.
SeaWord will automatically detect which speech
adapter is being used as long as the DigiSpeech work
stations have the driver loaded using LWDIGI.EXE.

Creating or Purchasing more Word and Voice Files
The word and voice files supplied with SeaWord cover
the basic short and long vowel sounds as well as beginning
and ending consonant sounds (Level 1). Other levels can
be purchased. Each level covers more complex phonetical
skills as well as reviewing phonetical skills presented
in earlier levels.
You can create your own word and voice files if you
purchase the CUSTOMIZER. If you create word and voice
files that you feel others would want, I would be
interested in looking at them and listening to them.
If I marketed the lists, the revenues would be shared.
